Christ and the church broke the social rules of HIS day. He gave honor and rights to groups that were not very high on the social ladder.
He recognized women as important. Women were among his followers and special mention is made of them in the gospels. In 1 Timothy speaks of deaconesses and 1 Corinthians 7 protects womens marital rights.
In Philmon Paul urges his friend to treat his servant with honor, love and respect.
